The HERMetic Sampler A-2 incorporates a graduated stainless-steel measuring tape, sampling bottle, sampler housing, viewing window, and quick-connect coupling in a robust portable assembly. It is particularly suitable for oil tankers, crude oil carriers, petroleum terminals, refineries, tank farms, custody transfer operations, inventory control, quality control, and pollution prevention applications.
Core Working Principle
The HERMetic Sampler A-2 operates by mounting the sampler housing onto a suitable 2-inch HERMetic vapour control valve installed on the tank. The sampling bottle is connected to the graduated measuring tape and lowered vertically through the tank to the required sampling position.
The sampling bottle moves through the liquid according to the selected sampling method. A zone sampling bottle can be used to collect a sample from the upper level of the tank, while spot, running, and bottom sampling bottles are available for different sampling requirements.
The graduated tape and viewing window allow operators to monitor and determine the sampling height during the operation. Once the required sample has been collected, the vapour control valve is closed and the liquid is transferred from the sampling bottle to a laboratory bottle under open conditions. A pump can be connected to accelerate the sample transfer when required.
The standard HERMetic Sampler A-2 uses a 30 m / 100 ft graduated tape, with longer tape configurations available according to the application. The sampling bottle capacity is approximately 0.5 litre, providing a practical sample volume for laboratory analysis and quality-control procedures.
